AMR Ramesh the Kannada director and producer of controversial films is now making a bilingual, shot in Kannada as Attahasa and Vana Yuddham in Tamil. The film is based on the notorious forest brigand Veerappan.
Kishore plays the role of Veerappan in the film, which also features Arjun in the role of the chief Special Task Force officer Vijayakumar and Vijayalakshmi as Veerappan's wife, Muthulakshmi.
The film has been mired in controversies when the real life Muthulakshmi got a stay order against release of the film, as she says there are objectionable scenes in the film that tarnish her and her daughter’s image.
The court asked her to furnish details of the proof and producer AMR Ramesh agreed to show her the film before it gets censored so that she can find out for herself if there are any objectionable scenes.
On Sunday AMR Ramesh had arranged a special preview of Vana Yuddham for her, but she did not turn up for the special screening. It has now put Ramesh in a fix as he cannot censor the film without Muthulakshmi watching it.
Already AMR Ramesh has announced a simultaneous release of Attahasa which has been censored with an UA certificate and Vana Yuddham on September 28. Tamil Newspaper ads have also appeared saying that the film is a September release.
It is clear that unless Veerappan’s wife Muthulakshmi sees the film, and suggests any correction if required then only it can be censored. So Vana Yuddham releasing in September looks remote at the moment.
