Manirathnam whose upcoming project titled Pookadai has Karthik’s son Gautham and Radha’s daughter Tulasi playing the lead roles. The director got marveled with the performance of Arjun in Ajith’s Mankatha. So he made a call to the actor it seems, and conveyed his interest in casting Arjun for a crucial role in Pookadai. Rumors are there that director Manirathnam who got impressed with Arjun’s double game play in Mankatha, is planning to give the villain role in Pookadai. But, source says that it won’t be of a villain role. Manirathanam is well known for bringing characters to life. His film Ayutha Ezhuthu which brought out the witty acting of director Bharathiraja got applauses among the audience. So we can expect some more hidden talents of Arjun through this film.

Mani picks Arjun, but not as villain
It's true that Mani Ratnam has signed Arjun for his forthcoming film, but not to play the role of a baddie as reported in a section of media. "I am there in Mani's movie. However, I am not doing the villain's role," says a happy Action King, as this is the first time for him to work with the ace director.
Tentatively titled 'Pookadai', the film has yesteryear hero Karthik's son Gautham as protagonist. And a guessing game is still on as to who will be the heroine. A tough contest is on between R Parthipan's daughter Keerthana and Radha's younger daughter Thulasi, it is learnt.
Remember Keerthana was a part of Mani's 'Kannathil Muthamittal' when she was a school going child and hence shares a good rapport with the filmmaker. And Radha was recently quoted as saying that her daughter would sure accept an acting offer from Mani Ratnam.
Ace writer Jeyamohan has penned the script for the film, which will have musical score by AR Rahman. Rajeev Menon will crank the camera. "A love story set in the backdrop of Rameswaram, it will deal with the lives of fishermen there," say sources close to the development.

AK Arjun is thrilled to work with Mani Ratnam

Arjun  is excited at the same time thrilled to work with Mani Ratnam. It is because he is teaming up with the maverick filmmaker for the first time. Well, the actor has confirmed the news that he has signed the forthcoming multilingual movie, which is reportedly titled Pookadai.

Speaking to a leading daily, Arjun  said that he has been roped in to the film but denied that he is playing the role of a baddie in upcoming Tamil movie. The actor, who is not keen to reveal the details about his character, claimed that he is playing the central character.

Mani Ratnam's next movie will star veteran actor Karthik's son Gautham in the lead role. For the female lead roles, yesteryear actress Radha's daughter Tulasi and Parthiban's daughter Keerthana are reportedly being considered.

However, the filmmaker has finalised the crew for the forthcoming multilingual film. His favourite musician AR Rahman will be scoring the music, whereas, Rajeev Menon will be handling the camera.
