Info Post

Arjun is the original ‘Action King’ of Kollywood, a title he has been holding for decades. Soon after the release of the much delayed Vande Mataram last week, Arjun is ready with his next film titled Vallakottai. Doing what he does best, he has essayed several different get up’s in the film, delivering a variety of stunts for his fans yet again. We speak to the elusive star to find out more about the man and his film..

What is Vallakottai about?
It is produced by KD Raja and directed by A Venkatesh. The film is a total commercial masala movie with tons of action. It’s my third film with Venkatesh after Vathiyar and Durai. It is a complete entertainer.

Your comedy tracks are always well received. How is it in this film?
Yes, I love comedy and always strive to do something different. Most comedians are my friends and I enjoy working with them. This time I have teamed up with Sathyan and Ganja Karuppu and the result is hilarious.

Tell us about your heroine?
I team up with Haripriya this time. She has good role to perform and is not just a glam doll in the film.

How do you manage to hold onto your action image despite competition from a dozen young heroes?
Well, doing action is not easy. Maintaining the action hero image is not easy. In order to do that I have to strive to think differently each time and deliver something even more challenging.

You have done five different get ups in Vallakottai?
Well yes, there are many get ups and with each one stunt master Thalapathy Dinesh and I have tried to do something different. The get up’s helped since I was able to evolve a different body language for each stunt. I have done a pirates of the Caribbean look, one of a Black man, one as Kamal in Nayagan and one of Krish and his mask.

It is said that you add your inputs in various aspects of the film. Why so?
It’s not interference but involvement. I just take extra care to discuss various aspects so that the entire team comes up with something the audience would like. It’s a joint effort.

You are doing mostly commercial films when realistic movies too are entering the fray. What do you feel about that?
Well commercial films and parallel cinema have always been existing side by side. Each has its own viewership. It’s nice to see both co existing.
