He has waited with the script for three years to get the right actors. Finally director Vasanth has zeroed in on them — Arjun, Cheran and Vimal. His Moondru Per Moondru Kadhal (MPMK) is half way through and Vasanth says that he will create new personalities out of his three actors. “I turned ‘Action King' (Arjun) into an ‘Acting King' in Rhythm. By the time MPMK is complete you will see a new Cheran and Vimal,” assures Vasanth. The female roles have gone to two new faces from Mumbai — Sruti and Surveen while Mukta Banu plays the third heroine. “It is a love story and the highlight of the film will be the outstanding score by Yuvan Shankar Raja,” says Vasanth.

A film with social relevance by AKK entertainment 'Prasad' starring action king of Tamil films Arjun, Madhuri Bhattacharya and dumb and deaf Sankalp already hailed by bigwigs at the audio release has been cleared by the regional censor board with 'U' certificate.

AKK Entertainment has arranged for a special screening of the film before the audio release and the opinions of Ambarish, Sumalatha, Dwarakish, Sudeep, Arjun, Madhuri Bhattacharaya, Sudharani and others were made public.

Producer Ashok Kheney is overwhelmed with the making of 'Prasad' is happy for the U certificate. He is releasing the film soon. Manoj Sathi has penned the story, screenplay and directed this film.

Music maestro Ilayaraja has composed four songs for this special film. Sanjay Malkar is the cameraman. Shiamiyak Davar has done the choreography. Dialogues and co direction is by K Jagadish Reddy.

The film has lyrics from Jayanth Kaikini, Nagendra Prasad and Kaviraj. Ramesh Bhat, Ninasam Ashwath, Shama, Monica, Swathi, Anjanappa, Shiamak Davar are in the supporting cast.

Action king Arjun is truly on Cloud Nine as he has recently bagged two big projects; Mani Ratnam's Pookkadai and A.M.R. Ramesh's bilingual Vana Yuddham.

Vana Yuddham will chronicle Veerappan’s youth, his entry into smuggling, his rise as a dacoit, his love life, and finally his death at the hands of special team of police. In the film Arjun will play the role of DGP K. Vijay Kumar, who goes on a mission to capture the notorious sandalwood smuggler and dacoit Veerappan.

On the other hand Mani Ratnam's Pookkadai is an intense love story based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy.

Kollywood`s `Action King` Arjun has teamed up with Bollywood action choreographer turned director Tinu Varma, to do an all-out action film Kaatu Puli in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
Tinu Varma is Bollywood`s renowned action choreographer who did action scenes in Amitabh Bachchan films in the late 70`s and 80`s.

And now, Tinu who has won seven Filmfare Awards for his action choreography is turning director with Kaatu Puli.

Arjun says he has a very exciting role in Kaatu Puli. Arjun says: “We shot the film in the Thalakottam forest and it was very exciting. I play a doctor who is part of a team that heads into the forest on a secret mission. The adventure and action in the forest forms rest of the story.”

The cast include Rajneesh, Sayali Bhagat, Anaya and Priyanka Desai. The action-packed entertainer had problems with censors and was finally given an A certificate. The film is expected to taken a good opening after the success of Mankatha which had Arjun playing a prominent role.

It's been 10 years since you have worked in a Kannada film...

It wasn't a conscious decision to stay away from the Kannada film industry. Every time I would think about doing a Kannada film, something interesting would come up in Tamil or Telugu. And now, I am venturing into Hindi as well with a film that I will be directing and acting in.

Why did you choose to make your comeback with an offbeat subject like Prasad?
It was a subject that I had not done so far in my career. The character I play in the film will bring out the actor in me. I've been waiting for a role like this and when I got the opportunity, I didn't want to let go.

Tell us more about your role in Attahasa.

I play DGP K Vijay Kumar in the film, a top cop whom I look up to in real life. I've played police officers earlier, but those roles were in complete commercial potboilers. Attahasa (Vanayuddham in Tamil) is a based on real-life incidents and I play one of the best cops in the business.

You have finally signed a Mani Ratnam film, Pookadai. Do you think the role has come very late in your career?

Nothing is ever late. I've neither relied on big names for any of my films nor have I worked with biggies. But I'm still a recognized face in the industry with many awards to my credit. I have an image among the audience and I want to live up to that.

Almost every actor in the industry is entering the six-pack brigade. But you, being the Action King, have not attempted it so far.

I am the only actor who has had a six-pack since I was very young and my audience knows that. I don't have to take off my shirt and flaunt it onscreen every time.

What other projects are you working on?

I am working on director Vasanth's Moondru Per Moondru Kathal, Om and a Telugu film with director Kodi Ramakrishna, who introduced me to films.

You're hardly seen in Bangalore, despite the city being your hometown.

I don't have many friends in Bangalore. The same goes for Hyderabad or Chennai, where I am based. I have hardly four or five friends, and only one from the industry, Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu.

DGP K Vijay Kumar - who headed the operation that ended in the death of forest brigand Veerappan - speaks about the film Attahasa

The subject of Veerappan's death, like the forest brigand himself, seems to court controversy. And it seems the film, Attahasa - which is about Operation Cocoon that resulted in the death of Veerappan - will be no different. Director AMR Ramesh of Cyanide and Kuppi fame is making a film about the incident, and Director General, Police, K Vijay Kumar, who headed the operation, is taking a keen interest in the project. "When Ramesh approached me with the idea of making a film about Veerappan, I was neither excited nor wary about the idea. If the film had been made immediately after the operation, it would have had a different impact on me altogether. But it's been almost seven years and I am quite detached from it now," he says.

In fact, a few months before Veerappan was killed, his wife Muthulakshmi visited an astrologer to find out what the future held for her husband as she was sure he was in some kind of danger. And as she suspected, the brigand met his end in an encounter headed by Vijay Kumar (who was the Commandant of the Special Task Force and Additional Director-General of Police at the time) and SP, STF NK Senthamarai Kannan.

Whenever a film is made about a real-life incident, controversies abound. And Vijay Kumar agrees that Attahasa will be no exception. "There is a tendency to glorify things in such films. When Veerappan died, there were two questions doing the rounds. First, many believed that the the operation was carried out in an unethical manner. Second, there was an issue regarding how a person like him who could never be caught alive was suddenly gunned down by the police. Later, I explained why he could not be caught alive: he had killed at least 44 forest officials and 80 other policemen and we could not afford to lose more lives in the operation. We had decided that there would be no more bloodshed," says Vijay Kumar.

He adds, "It was a long and painful wait, but we wanted to nab him in a proper manner. We had to be extremely careful and guard the lives of many other people. There were some things that we would not discuss within the police force itself. We refused to ask each other questions after a certain point. It was a conscious decision to make it a very hush-hush affair. I had wonderful colleagues like Kannan who played a vital role in the operation and made it successful."

And actor Arjun Sarja, who plays DGP Vijay Kumar in the film, is taking tips from the top cop. "He spoke to me once over the phone and asked me for some inputs. We have not met yet," Vijay Kumar signs off.

S.Mohan wants to movie with AK Arjun

The talented director, writer and actor S Mohan who once worked in the camp of Manirathnam is now for the most ambitious project needs the call sheet of Tamil action hero Arjun who is known as Arjun in Kannada cinema.

Mohan has finished ‘Narasimha’ shooting and dubbing and is hoping for release on 30th of December, 2011 and taken up ‘Manjunatha BA LLB’ for direction – both are remakes.

What he had in his mind from college days – a play he has directed in over 50 shows ‘Fair Play’ he has narrated it to Prakash Raj to produce in Duet Movies. The strength of the subject is that it is viable made in three languages.

For the Kannada version of the film based on stage play Mohan has titled it as ‘Male Nilluva Varegu’. He wants to shoot in complete rain with no stunts and Songs.

AR Rahman's tunes a duet song for Mani Ratnam

Oscar Award winner AR Rahman has started the music composition for Mani Ratnam's next movie, which is tentatively tiled Pookadai. In fact, the musician is ready with a romantic-duet track, which is penned by poet-lyricist  Vairamuthu.

Vairamuthu has confirmed and said that he has penned the lyrics for the song. In his words, the number is  drenched in melody and he is confident that it will garner a huge audience's attention. But the writer refuses to reveal further details and assures that the album will top the chart.

Pookadai directed by Mani Ratnam is the launchpad of actor Karthik's son, Gautham. While Action King Arjun Sarja plays the antagonist, the hunt for the female lead is on. The only other available detail about the crew is that Rajeev Menon is handling the camera for the forthcoming movie.

Ak Arjun seems to have bagged a biggie in Kollywood. Reports from Chennai reveal that Arjun has been roped in for a central role in the new movie to be directed by the maverick Mani Ratnam. Sources say the film is tentatively titled as Pookadai. While Arjun has been tight lipped over the role, he has reportedly revealed that he is not the villain. Wearing khaki in front of the camera is like a cakewalk for Arjun. The 'Action King' is at it again, but this time in a role inspired by a real life personality. The actor is doing a character inspired by top police officer Vijayakumar, in 'Vana Yudhdham', a biopic on forest brigand Veerappan.

Says the film's director AMR Ramesh, "Arjun has justified the role. He did a lot of homework for Vana Yudhdham since it is no easy thing to reflect a real life personality on screen. The Action King will live up to its sobriquet in the movie, which has Kishore playing Veerappan."

On picking Kishore for the lead role, he says, "I doubt whether anyone other than Kishore would fit so well into Veerappan's shoes. The actor has given life to the role. You can see the stills of the film to confirm yourself if you are not ready to believe my words."

Vijayalakshmi of 'Chennai 600028' and 'Anjathey' fame is playing Veerappan's wife, while Lakshmi Rai is expected to play an important role. "Without taking any sides, I have tried to present the story of Veerappan in a neutral manner. A lot of research has been done," the director adds.

In keeping with the title a third male lead was needed and Shiva has been roped in for this role. Word is that three new faces will be playing their love interests.Yuvan Shankar Raja will be doing the music for this film. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the temple city, Madurai from November 20th. Vasanth has said that the film will be about the love of three men as suggested by the title but it is not a typical romance film.

Mani picks Arjun, but not as villain
It's true that Mani Ratnam has signed Arjun for his forthcoming film, but not to play the role of a baddie as reported in a section of media. "I am there in Mani's movie. However, I am not doing the villain's role," says a happy Action King, as this is the first time for him to work with the ace director.
Tentatively titled 'Pookadai', the film has yesteryear hero Karthik's son Gautham as protagonist. And a guessing game is still on as to who will be the heroine. A tough contest is on between R Parthipan's daughter Keerthana and Radha's younger daughter Thulasi, it is learnt.
Remember Keerthana was a part of Mani's 'Kannathil Muthamittal' when she was a school going child and hence shares a good rapport with the filmmaker. And Radha was recently quoted as saying that her daughter would sure accept an acting offer from Mani Ratnam.
Ace writer Jeyamohan has penned the script for the film, which will have musical score by AR Rahman. Rajeev Menon will crank the camera. "A love story set in the backdrop of Rameswaram, it will deal with the lives of fishermen there," say sources close to the development.

I enjoy spending hours to do up this website.

I have been a HUGE fan of Arjun for 24years.

I wanted to do something for him as a fan and utilise this medium to meet his fans around the world. Yes, I have made some really nice pals thru this too :) Then again, all these hardwork would mean alot when it's being appreciated. Yes, you are right.

I'm talking about Arjun. Sad to say, that I Have yet to meet him even after all these years.

I was lil upset when I realized that he came over to singapore for the 2nd time and didn't inform anyone of us. I thought he would at least take a lil time to see his loyal fan who spend countless hours for the website.. for him..

One of my dear friend Deepa and I tried messaging him in his fb to convey our intention. Alas, he replied to someone else and totally ignore our kind wishes !! It was absolutely heart breaking as he didnt bother to even reply that he was unable to meet us.

I do not think that I have asked anything more.

I have met many famous celebrities but I have never been ignored in such a way. Now how do I go about updating this website wholeheartedly

sources are to be believed, Trisha will soon debut in Sandalwood with a film titled "CM", starring Shivarajkumar.

While the producer and director Raghu Ram insists that despite the title, the film has no political flavour, sources say that the story could revolve around the love story of a chief minister.

"The film could depict a common man's rise to the post of the chief minister. Buzz is that Trisha is likely to play the chief minister of a neighbouring state and the film will chronicle the budding relationship between both the heads of states," says a source. Apparently, Anushka was the initial choice for the role, but the actress had no dates to spare. That's when Trisha was approached. "Trisha's remuneration package is in the `80-`85 lakh bracket. The producer is trying to negotiate with her, but it does seem that her presence in the film is almost confirmed," adds the source.

The film, meanwhile, will be a bilingual, and will be shot simultaneously in both Tamil and Kannada. while Shivanna will essay the lead in the Kannada version, Action King Arjun is likely to be the protagonist in Tamil.

AK arjun Sarja is awaiting his next release in Tamil 'Mankatha' which is poised to hit theatres today (August 31). In this action-packed, cop-chase-don-chase-cop story Arjun plays a go-getter cop, who makes it his mission to trap the gang who is planning for a heist.

Apart from the much-hyped 'Mankatha' the Action King is also doing 'Maasi' under director Kicha's direction. The film which was due for release last weekend has seen a set back in the release date due to a court stay order. Arjun is also doing 'Kaatu Puli' under National Award winning stunt choreographer Tinu Varma, who is turning director with this film.

The latest buzz is that Arjun has signed a deal with the production house of Aascar Ravichandran. Though nothing more on this project has been confirmed with regards to who will be directing the film as well as regarding the cast and crew, sources indicate that the movie will be a typical Arjun flick with lavish doses of stunts and action.

Looks like director Kicha's next action entertainer, Maasi, starring Action King Arjun in the lead, might not release this weekend as planned. In a new turn, the producers of Idhudhanda Police — 2 have obtained a stay order from the court, demanding the film should not be released in theatres. In a press release sent by the producers of Idhudhanda Police — 2, Y Surender Reddy has stated, "We got the south remake rights of the Bollywood film, Risk (starring Randeep Hooda, Vinod Khanna and Tanushree Dutta) and based our Idhudhanda Police — 2 on it. The film, starring Dr Rajashekar, and directed by his wife Jeevitha, is simultaneously being made in Tamil and Telugu. Recently, we learnt that almost 75 per cent of the scenes in the Arjun-starrer Maasi, directed by Kicha, are similar to that of Risk, for which we have got the rights. We obtained an order in Hyderabad City Civil Court to stay the release of the movie."

Director Vasanth is back -

It looks like we will soon see director Vasanth wielding the megaphone for a romantic love story. The director who was popular in the 90s and the beginning of 2000s for his love subjects like 'Keladi Kanmani', 'Aasai', 'Poovellam Kettupar' and 'Rhythm' among others is back after a hiatus.

Vasanth's films are popular for new faces that the director has introduced as well as for the songs that his films have. It was way back in 1997 that Vasanth introduced Suriya through 'Nerukku Ner'. And what happened after that, as they say, is history.

A few months back there were talks that director Vasanth will be one of the creative directors to Mani Ratnam in the latter's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan', but the project got shelved. There are now reports that Vasanth will soon be directing a love-themed film titled 'Moondru Paer Moondru Kadhal'. This film is touted to have Arjun, Cheran and a new face in the lead. The director is reported to be on the lookout for new faces for the heroine's roles.

Now it remains to be seen if the director will work on three different love stories which will culminate in the end or it the lead characters will portray prominent roles that will be a part of a main script...

One of the abductors who came with fugitive Veerappan on Bheemana Amavasye day on July 30, 2000 Shivakumar now set free after two and half years jail term is also playing the same role in this film of Ramesh.

One of the four companions with Dr Rajakumar – Nagappa Maradagi who ran away from Veerappan clutches is also in the cast of this film.

Yuvan Shanker Raja is scoring the music; Dilip Subbaraya is the action director. Vijay Milton is the cameraman while Antony will be editing the film.

Now that the shoot of ‘Mankatha’, Ajith’s 50th film is over, Ajith has thanked each and everyone involved in the film for their support and co-operation to the project. Topping his thank you list, we learn, is ‘Action King’ Arjun.

“Ajith was so touched with the down-to-earth approach of Arjun, who too is a leading actor and in fact a senior to Ajith. So Thala specially thanked him for being part of the project,” sources close to the unit say.

Currently in its post-production stage, ‘Mankatha’, produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies and directed by Venkat Prabhu, is a multi-starrer, with Ajith, Trisha, Arjun, Andrea Jeremiah, Anjali, Lakshmi Rai, Premgi and Vaibhav essaying lead roles. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Meanwhile, there is a buzz that Venkat Prabhu will direct his next film under Yuvan’s production banner. However, nothing is official so far and the director says his sole concentration is on ‘Mankatha’ now.

What's Arjun's 'Om' all about?

Director Ilankannan has spilled the beans on his forthcoming venture 'Om', which has Arjun playing the protagonist. The filmmaker is joining hands with the 'Action King' again, after 'Ottran'.

"There are people who firmly believe that money should be earned only by hard work. And there are others who lead a life with other people�s money. �Om� is about the war between these two groups," he says.

"Arjun is playing an angry young man who leads the battle against evil forces. 'Om' is a film with a lot of twists and turns, quite like 'Ottran.' The shooting is currently going on in a grand set in Kumbakonam," adds the director.

Produced by popular director Shakthi Chidambaram, 'Om' has Pallavi Subhash opposite Arjun. Music is by Taj Noor of 'Vamsam' fame. Vivek is there to provide comic relief. "Om will be a delight to watch," claims the director.

Action King Arjun performing the role of a Jungle King isn’t something new to us. We have been witnessing the prototyped roles nearly for couple of decades. But for the first time, he is up with a different theme and the film is directed by the 7-times National award winner for action, choreographer Tinu Varma from Bollywood. This will be a trilingual film simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Set in the backdrops of thickly populated jungle, the film revolves around three couple (Played by Mr. India title winner Rajneesh, Miss India Sayali Bhagath, Miss Assam Hanaya - Amith and Jahan – Jennifer). These young couples are on their adventurous journey across the deep-rooted forests and is exposed to a dangerous situation that will cost their lives. They come across a couple (performed by Arjun and actress Priyanka Desai) and seek refuge.

The film has been shot across the backdrops of Thalaikonam forest in Kerala. Fifty well trained horses have been used for the shooting and at times, they would face the upheavals as leopards try to attack the camp.

Arjun recalls that he shares a ‘lucky sentiment’ with forests as ‘Jai Hind’ that was shot in backdrops of forests became a major hit and so will be this ‘Kaattu Puli’.

The entire media is on toes on guessing the story of Mankatha, Thala Ajith’s 50th film. Director Venkat Prabhu has come out with a clarification on what Mankatha is all about.

Venkat Prabhu says “Yes, as guessed by the media the basic plot of Mankatha runs on gambling but the entire film doesn’t revolve on cricket betting. In fact the film deals about all sorts of gambling that are taking place”.

On talking about Arjun’s role he said “The sequences of Arjun are going to be the highlight of the film since he is playing a cop who is behind Ajith. In a particular scene Thala would be calling him Action King”.

Currently the unit of Mankatha is in Bangkok for shooting the pending scenes, a lengthy fight sequence and also a song.
